How to Use the Image Converter

Uploading photos to your blog or website at full size can slow down page loading and eat up storage space. Converting them with this tool to WEBP or a highly compressed JPG, and scaling the resolution down to a web-friendly size, often cuts the file size by more than half with barely any noticeable difference in quality.

If you're hitting size limits attaching several photos to an email, or upload limits on social media or community forums, converting them all at once and downloading them as a ZIP is a handy workaround. You can also go the other way — convert to PNG when you need a transparent background, or to JPG when compatibility matters most.

  • Optimize images for blogs and websites (reduce file size, improve loading speed)
  • Get around size limits for email attachments and forum uploads
  • Convert multiple images at once and keep them organized in a ZIP file
  • Convert freely between PNG, JPG, and WEBP
  • Scale down high-resolution photos for slides and presentations

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Are my uploaded images sent to a server?

No. All conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — your image files are never uploaded to or stored on a server. You can keep converting images even without an internet connection, as long as you don't refresh the page.

Q2. Can I convert multiple images at once?

Yes, you can select and convert multiple files at once. Once conversion is done, you can download each file individually, or use the "Download All as ZIP" button to get everything in a single compressed file.

Q3. What happens to quality when I convert PNG to JPG?

JPG uses lossy compression, so depending on the quality slider setting there can be a slight drop in image quality. If a PNG has a transparent background, converting it to JPG will fill the transparent areas with white. To preserve quality as much as possible, set the quality to 90% or higher.

Q4. Can WEBP be used everywhere?

Most modern browsers — Chrome, Edge, Safari, Samsung Internet, and others — support WEBP, but older software or some document editors may not be able to open it. If compatibility matters, we recommend converting to JPG or PNG instead.

Q5. How should I decide on a max resolution?

This sets the maximum pixel count for the longer side of the image (whichever is larger, width or height). For a typical blog or webpage, 1920px or less is often plenty, and for social media uploads, around 1280px is usually enough. If you want to keep the original resolution, choose "Keep Original."
